In the old days, in order to honor the chastity of women and educate the people, local officials ordered the establishment of a chastity monument, which was approved by Cao Kun, the then president of the Republic of China. The tablet is carved with four big characters, "filial piety and fragrance", and the "Twenty-four Filial Piety Map".
"Filial piety" is the core of Confucian ethics, the moral principle of maintaining family relations in Chinese society for thousands of years, and the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation. Guo Jujing of the Yuan Dynasty compiled the stories of twenty-four filial sons in ancient times, which were widely publicized by later generations in the form of pictures and sculptures.
