Collection Introduction

The monument of King Wenxuan, the sage of Dacheng, was erected to worship Confucius and was engraved in the fifth year of Yanyou in the Yuan Dynasty (1318). Excavated from the construction site of Jiulong City in Peixian County in June 2013.

As the founder of Confucianism, Confucius was praised by emperors. From Ai Gong Lu Lei with "Ni Fu" beginning, Qin, Han, Sui, Tang, Song, each has canonization. In the eleventh year of Dade (1307), Emperor Chengzong of the Yuan Dynasty was awarded the title of "King Wenxuan of Dacheng," and ordered the world to establish a Confucian temple to offer sacrifices. Pei County also built a Confucian temple in the county and set up this monument.

The inscription recorded this great event in the cultural history of Pei County, and also reflected the structure of county officials in the Yuan Dynasty, confirming the exact location of Peixian city site in the Yuan Dynasty.
