【Author】Ma Ya was born in Xuzhou in August 1963. He graduated from School of Fine Arts, Nanjing Normal University in 1984. Member of the Democratic League. He is now an associate professor and master tutor of School of Fine Arts, Jiangsu Normal University. Member of Chinese Calligraphers Association, director of Jiangsu Calligraphers Association, vice chairman of Jiangsu Young Calligraphers Association, chairman of Xuzhou Calligraphers Association, president of Xuzhou Calligraphers Association of the Democratic League, chairman of the Municipal Workers Calligraphers Association. He learned calligraphy and painting from his father, Ma Fengxin, and learned calligraphy from Mr. Yutianchi and Mr. Pan Liangzhen. His works have won the silver Award of the first Fine Art Festival in Jiangsu Province, the first prize of the second National Cursive Exhibition, the Silver Award of the first National large-character Calligraphy Exhibition, the Bronze Award of the Third and Fifth National Couplets Calligraphy Exhibition, the Award of the Association of Japan International Exhibition of Calligraphy and Painting in 2004, and the honor of being on the "Calligraphy" list of the Top 100 Young Calligraphists in China, and the 2006-2007 Xuzhou Calligraphy and Painting Media Creation Award.
