History
Weishan Lake is a vast expanse of misty water. The water is glittering. The lotus leaves touch the sky, the lotus flowers reflect the sun, the willows in spring and the geese in autumn, and the fishing boats sing in the evening. It is located in the east of Peixian County, embracing the land of Peixian County and caring for the people of Peixian County. Like a green gem inlaid at the junction of Sulu and Shandong, it shines with attractive luster.
Weishan Lake is composed of Nanyang Lake, Dushan Lake, Zhaoyang Lake and Weishan Lake from north to south, which is commonly known as Weishan Lake. It is 522.8 kilometers wide from east to west and 122.6 kilometers long from south to north. It has a total drainage area of 31700 square kilometers and a water surface area of 1266 square kilometers. It is one of the six largest freshwater lakes in China. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, which passes along the lake, is an important water transport line in the east of China, and also the hub of the National South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
For thousands of years, the ancient Peixian County has watched the origin, gradual formation and continuous expansion of the vast expanse of Weishan Lake: Peize Huanhuan, Surabaya, the Yellow River, and Zhaoyang reflecting the sky. Weishan Lake gathers the spirit of heaven and earth, and blends with the essence of Chinese culture. Abundant water resources, abundant products and excellent ecology nourish this advantaged land. The simple and forthright people of Peixian County live here and sing moving songs.
